Ember of the Vale
★★★★★ 4.6
Ember of the Vale is the kind of RPG you don't expect to find on a phone. It's got a proper story, party members with actual personalities, and turn-based combat that rewards planning over button-mashing. I sank a weekend into it without meaning to.
Combat uses an energy system where you build up power over turns before unleashing bigger moves, so there's a nice rhythm of patience and payoff. The writing carries it, though. Side quests actually made me care about the villages I was helping.
It's generous with save points and quick to resume, which is exactly what you want in a mobile RPG you play in bursts.
What we liked
- Genuinely written characters and side stories
- Tactical turn-based combat with clear rhythm
