How we score a game (and why numbers lie a bit)

August 17, 2026 · Lukas Vogel

People ask what our ratings actually mean, so here's the honest answer: they're a rough summary of a long conversation, not a scientific measurement.

We weigh how a game feels to control, how well it holds up over a week of play, and whether it respects your time. A great one-hour game can score higher than a bloated forty-hour one.

The number is subjective and we're fine with that. Read the actual review, because the paragraphs tell you far more than a single figure ever could.

We also revisit scores when big updates land. A game that fixed its worst problems deserves a second look, and we try to give it one.
